INVNT APAC delivers electric back to back experiences for Sydney WorldPride

INVNT APAC showcases colour, creativity, and community impact in partnership with Sydney WorldPride.

On a mission to create engaging and immersive brand experiences to celebrate diversity, inclusivity, and creativity in all its forms, INVNT APAC  was tasked with delivering and organising several events for Sydney WorldPride 2023. Highlighting the LGBTQIA+ community’s rich cultural history and contributions to society, this was the first time since inception that the festival had run in the Asia Pacific region, marking a huge step forward for human rights in this region.

The festivities kicked off with INVNT APAC adding a unique dash of colour and creativity to the Sydney WorldPride Villages on Oxford Street, featuring street murals, decorated storefronts, and shop interiors which delivered messages of love and inclusivity. As the home to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, areas of this beloved LGBTQIA+ district were closed to traffic to create a fabulous and free festival hub. As well as beautifying the streets with large format murals, and curated pop-up shops and spaces, INVNT also created a medical hub for First Nations people and a space for InterPride associations to connect with WorldPride attendees for the festival duration. In partnership with the Sydney World Pride inclusion team, INVNT also created a chill zone which was an inclusive space that offered facilities such as sensory rooms, making it easier for people with sensory sensitivities to attend the event.

Next was the InterPride welcome Cocktail Function held at Sydney’s iconic Town Hall. The event brought together VIPs, international pride organizations, and SWP Scholarship recipients, offering them a unique opportunity to network and connect. A performance by Seann Miley Moore was also a highlighted feature of the event. Attendees included Clover Moore, the Lord Mayer of Sydney, Steve Cox – CEO of Destination NSW, and Philipa Harrision, CEO of Tourism Australia. The event saw over 800PAX in attendance.

To add to the line up of electric deliveries, INVNT also collaborated with Sydney World Pride to deliver Ultra Violet, the premier event that celebrated the LGBTQIA+ women during the WorldPride celebrations. Also held at Sydney Town Hall, this experience showcased the raw creativity of women in the community through a range of performances including burlesque, performance art, and cabaret. The premier event featured artists and appearances from artists such as Peaches, Jess Hill, Bec Sandrdige, and Magda Szubanski in character as Sharon Strezleki. With over 2000 attendees in presence, CEO of Sydney World Pride Kate Wickett was proud to announce on the evening that Ultra Violet would become a legacy event for WorldPride and a feature event for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
